Expressway Trung Luong – My Thuan: A Significant Milestone in Regional Transportation Development
On January 19, 2022, the Trung Luong – My Thuan Expressway project was officially opened for technical inspection, paving the way for the robust development of the Southwest region and strengthening the connectivity between provinces and Ho Chi Minh City. Here are the detailed insights into this important expressway project.
Project Details:
The project spans a total length of 81km, traversing five districts in Tien Giang province, including Chau Thanh, Cai Lay Town, Cai Lay, and Cai Be. The expressway starts from the Thanh Cuu Nghia interchange (Than Cuu Nghia commune, Chau Thanh district) and ends at the An Thai Trung interchange (An Thai Trung commune, Cai Be district).
Implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, with an initial investment of approximately 12.668 trillion VND, the project commenced in 2009. Despite challenges related to capital and legal procedures, it was successfully completed and began toll operation on April 27, 2022.
The expressway is designed with four lanes, without emergency stopping lanes, and a maximum speed of 80km/h. However, in the planned upgrade phase, it will be expanded to six lanes with emergency stopping lanes on both sides.
The first phase of the project was technically opened on January 19, 2022. Subsequently, from January 25, 2022, to February 10, 2022, the road was temporarily opened in both directions to accommodate travel demands during the Tet holiday.
