The Ministry of Transport plans to commence construction on four projects along the Ho Chi Minh road, a total length of 164 km, along with the Dai Ngai Bridge connecting Tra Vinh and Soc Trang by the end of this year. Additionally, five projects are scheduled to start at the end of 2023, including sections of the Ho Chi Minh road: Chu Market – Trung Son T-junction; Rach Soi – Ben Nhat, Go Quao – Vinh Thuan; Chon Thanh – Duc Hoa; Hoa Lien – Tuy Loan Expressway; and the Dai Ngai Bridge.

The Chu Market – Trung Son T-junction Project

Recently, the Ministry of Transport’s office indicates that the Ministry has issued directives to relevant units to make preparations for the execution of Phase 2 in expanding the Ho Chi Minh road, spanning from Chu Market to Trung Son T-junction. The commencement of construction is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2023, with completion slated for 2025.
The project focuses on constructing the Ho Chi Minh road section from Chu Market (the end point of the New Market – Chu Market section) in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, to the endpoint at Trung Son (intersecting with National Highway 2C) in Yên Sơn district, Tuyên Quang province.
The project spans approximately 28.6 km, with a total investment of 1,665 billion VND, and will be constructed at a level-3 scale, featuring 2 lanes.
In terms of funding, the Ministry of Transport has submitted a report and proposed a capital plan for the project’s implementation, following the prescribed procedures.

The Rach Soi – Ben Nhat and Go Quao – Vinh Thuan Projects

The project spans nearly 52km across the provinces of Kiên Giang and Bạc Liêu. The Rạch Sỏi – Bến Nhất section covers over 11km and coincides with the existing National Highway 61.
The Go Quao – Vinh Thuan section, extending over 40km, follows the direction from the branching point of National Highway 61, crossing the Cai Lon River, Cai Tau River, Nga Ba Dinh Channel, and then merging into National Highway 63 in Vinh Thuan district (Kien Giang province).
The designed speed for this road is 80km/h, with a scale of 2 lanes and a road surface width of 11m in the first phase. The total investment exceeds 3,900 billion VND, funded from the budget.

The Chon Thanh – Duc Hoa section of the Hồ Chí Minh road project

According to the approved decision of the Ministry of Transport, the project has a total length of approximately 73km, excluding overpasses and intersections with National Highway 22, which have already been invested in.
The project starts at Trừ Văn Thố Commune, Bàu Bàng district, Bình Dương province, and ends at the intersection with National Route N2, the current Hồ Chí Minh road, in Đức Hòa district, Long An province.
The Chon Thanh – Đuc Hoa section aims to connect the Ho Chi Minh road network from Pac Bo, Cao Bang province, to Đat Mu, Ca Mau province, contributing to sharing the traffic flow with the vertical axes of the Southeast region.
The total investment for this project is 2,293 billion VND, with an expected completion date in 2025.

The Hoa Lien– Tuy Loan Expressway Project

According to the Project Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Road, the starting point of the project is at kilometer 66+000, located at the intersection with the Hoa Lien interchange (coinciding with the end point of the Ho Chi Minh road section La Sơn – Hoa Lien just invested in construction), in Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city.
The endpoint is at kilometer 77+472, located at the intersection with the Tuy Loan interchange (the starting point of the Da Nang – Quang Ngai expressway project), in Hoa Nhon commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city.
In the completed phase, the project will have a scale of 6 lanes, with a roadbed width of 29m. In the phased stage, the investment scale will be 4 complete lanes, with a roadbed width of 22m and a road surface width of 14m. The bridge width is suitable for the roadbed width.
The total investment of the Hoa Lien – Tuy Loan expressway project is nearly 2,113 billion VND.

Dai Ngai Bridge

This is a strategic project, a crucial coastal transportation route connecting with the provinces of the Mekong Delta. Upon completion, it will shorten the distance by approximately 80km from Ca Mau, Soc Trang, and Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City compared to the current route on National Highway 1.
